Next year’s GOP run for president should be very interesting and especially entertaining. While one GOP candidate tried praying to fix the economy, another one sees God sending a message to Washington through a messenger called “Irene”:
I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.” –Rep. Michele Bachmann, suggesting at a presidential campaign event in Florida that the 2011 East Coast earthquake and hurricane was a message from God (Aug. 2011)
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather see somebody in the Oval Office who keeps a clear head and is not actually thinking that a hurricane hitting the East Coast is … crap, there is a Squirrel heading towards me. It must be a message from God telling me that Irene Bachmann (or what is her name again) is the best thing since sliced bread and I am totally nuts writing this blog posting. Well, I hope that it is Whole Wheat bread ….
Anyway, it is important to keep statements like the one above in mind when it comes to making the right choices next year. We cannot have these crazy lunatics running this country. We need somebody who understands the economy and politics and is not making unqualified statements about God sending a message through Irene.
